After seventy years, stories still arise from the ashes of the Holocaust. Oma A Heroine of the Holocaust, is based on the oral history of Johanna van Dam Herschkowitsch, who worked tirelessly during World War II for the Dutch Underground, assisting people in hiding. Included are family anecdotes, letters, photos, and documents detailing her story of courage in the face of Nazi oppression. After the war, "Oma" and her husband, Wolfgang, who hid in an attic in Driebergen Holland, for three years, emigrated to the United States, where they settled in Dallas, Texas, and played for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for many years. Oma A Heroine of the Holocaust is an amazing testament to the power of love, courage in adversity, and the resiliency of the human spirit. It is an inspiring story and a must-read for anyone who is interested in World War II and the Holocaust.

Johanna (Oma) having been my mother's cousin, I was thrilled to read the booklet. My expectations were greatly surpassed because of several elements in the story that were new to me. The book is a beautiful monument for a very courageous, true and gifted person, whom I am grateful to have known.Product details

Oma A Heroine of the Holocaust eBook Cynthia Herschkowitsch Reviews
Great book, very inspiring.
This was disappointing. Repetitive of information and yet really said nothing. No stories, or explanations of what she did to be called a heroine, just generic sentences that state that she was one for smuggling information. Also a whole lot of family tree information about numerous names and relations and schooling. Incomplete
I wanted to know more about her exploits during the war. Too much information about the writer.
This is an amazing story within a story. It tells how the author developed a relationship with her mother-in-law and became the repository for her stories about world war 2. The courage and determination of Oma is an inspiration to anyone especially uf they are interested ib stories about how people survived the Holocaust.
